How is music so good right now? I wake up and the Favors have a new album, the soundtrack for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey has been announced with new songs from both Laufey and Mitski, Laufey has a second song on Hits 1, Lyn Lapid has a deluxe album with four new songs, Miley Cyrus has a deluxe album featuring members of Fleetwood Mac and the Talking Heads and a 13-minute-long song, Olivia Rodrigo announces a live album, we are 12 days away from Taylor Swift's long-awaited 12th album, The Life Of A Showgirl, and Taylor announced an exclusive movie event The Official Release Party Of A Showgirl and I got tickets to it!
And speaking of The Life Of A Showgirl... I have a new series from now until the release of the album. I took a page out of Sombr's book and called it... the 12 to 12 special! For each of the 12 days leading up to the release of TS12, I'll make a post themed around each track of the album, complete with predictions, hopes, conceptual songwriting, and sourdough puns. Stay tuned for the first installment in the series later tonight!
As for AllTheHits, obviously there's a ton of new songs, all five debuts are skipping Almost There, Finneas's Same Old Story became my chart's first ever 30-weeker, and the Laufey domination has now reached week twenty-twooooooooo, between Silver Lining, Tough Luck, Lover Girl, Too Little Too Late, and Carousel each taking turns at the #1 spot. (This streak might be broken in a few weeks with The Life Of A Showgirl, and the Favors are close contenders as well.)
